Dear Little Garden,
Oh, you poor neglected thing! We had such high hopes for you!
A few things led to your lack of success...
We were late in planting (late June, not so good)
We left a few spots empty with the hopes of putting in some tomato + strawberry starts...never happened
We have a pesky squirrel who lives in our yard + literally ate almost all of our seeds!
I keep on forgetting to water what little has survived...
But our zucchini! Despite my neglect, it has managed to not only survive, but thrive! (I hear this is very common for zucchini- is that true?) It looks very sad and lonely out there in our raised bed all by itself, but I am grateful that at least something from our little experiment made it. I can't wait to use it in one of my very favorite muffin recipes later this week!
And next year little garden? Watch out...I have plans. Beginning with planting in late May and some kind of chicken-wire contraption in order to keep our squirrel (who needs a name...) out.
It is going to be awesome.
