sweet Ella Louise

Two weeks ago tomorrow, a miracle happened. My dear friend Christa's sweet baby Ella came home! I wrote about Ella's birth here, on my old blog,  and you can also read her whole story here on Christa's blog.

Reading back over that first post I wrote about Ella, I am completely overcome by how good God is and how amazing the miracle of her life is. I don't know if you could sense it in my writing in that post from November, but I was scared. So scared. I believed that God could heal her, but I was so fearful that He wouldn't. I was so fearful that His will would not be for her to stay.

The past couple of months have been hard for my dear friends. They have been torn between two little boys at home, and a beautiful new daughter in the NICU at the hospital. They have felt tired and hopeless, encouraged and hopeful; a roller coaster of emotions over and over again.

Two weeks ago tomorrow, everything changed.

Ella came home.

God healed her. Her little heart that the doctors were so confident was un-fixable, was fixed. Her little body that was struggling to survive, to breathe, to eat, to live, was made whole. Yes, she has a long road ahead of her. Yes, she is still on some medication. But friends...

She came home.

I can't even put into words how amazing that is! Two weeks later, I am still in awe of what God has done.

Two weeks ago tomorrow, I met Ella for the very first time. I was asked to take pictures of her homecoming, and oh, wow. I felt so honored and blessed to be a part of that day! To be able to finally meet this sweet girl that I had prayed so hard for, to be able to witness the joy on her family's faces, was such a huge gift to me. That is one of the things I love the very most about being a photographer. Getting to capture people's joy.

I really can't wait to see what God has in store for this precious beautiful girl.

  3. Beautiful! Amazing! Grace! Though my little Caitlin hasn't had the stuggle with her heart as Sweet Ella, even just holding her yesterday, this Nana prayed for her. That her little heart would continue to beat a few more months till the Drs. can Lord willing, 'fix' her heart, and we can have another miracle baby to rejoice over.
