2/52

"A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2013."

Audrey: I love that she has become such a little bookworm. I love finding her in little corners throughout the house, her nose in a book. I love that she usually has at least four or five books "in progress" at a time because I have always been exactly the same way.

Elliot: I can't wrap my mind or my heart around the idea that this sweet amazing boy is going to be SIX in just five short months. Goodness, I love him so.

Eliza: Just waking up from her nap.I could stare into those eyes for days...

"A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2013."

Audrey: She is so very, very seven years old these days. Stuck in that place between desperately wanting to grow up and still wanting to stay little. Witnessing your children grow is so bittersweet.

Elliot: He is all about LEGOS these days. 24/7. He plays them for hours, building such intricate, detailed structures and then telling us all about them in long, rambling stories.
Eliza: So smiley. I love that so much about her.
Inspired by the lovely Jodi over at Che and Fidel, I have decided to join in her 52 project this year. I am really looking forward to the collection of pictures I will have of my little ones at the end of the year!

The view from my bedroom window this afternoon. Sweet six and a half year old, trying to knit. Goodness, I love her.

01. Non-stress test today to make sure Miss E is doing okay post-due date. Everything looks great! We are just getting super anxious to have her in our arms!

02. The yummy lemonade I treated myself to after my extra long doctor's appointment

03. Reading with this girl at bedtime is seriously becoming one of my favorite parts of the day

six

My sweet girl turned six this last Saturday. Six! How can it even be possible?

I find that every single one of my children's birthdays is so bittersweet. Bitter in that they are growing up and it is so hard for me to let those baby days go; sweet in that the older they get the more I love them and love discovering who God created them to be.

This last Saturday we celebrated Audrey. My beautiful girl. I feel blessed beyond measure to not only be her mama, but to just know her. She is an amazing little girl. So creative and bright and just lovely in every single way. And I love that every day I am still learning new things about her.

I love how she has the most remarkable memory and is a wonderful storyteller. I love how obsessed she is with art and creating- it is one of the most beautiful things about her. I love how at any given time she has a million different collections- right now it is Strawberry Shortcakes, rocks, American Girl catalogs, coins from around the world, and cards + notes from family and friends. I love seeing how the Lord is working in her and heart and teaching her so much. I see Him answering so many prayers I have had for her in such amazing ways. I can't wait to see what God has in store for her and her life!

Here are some little peeks from her special day...

I love walking into scenes like these. The two of them playing so happily and peacefully together. This does not happen all the time- we definitely have our fair share of fighting + arguing!  But peeking into little moments like this make my mama heart so, so happy.

Audrey got a time-out today.

This is what I got in response.

I had a very, very hard time not laughing really hard when she gave it to me.

Don't worry. We made up.

February 10

Oh, sweet girl. Its been a rough week for us, hasn't it?
Just want you to know how very much I love you!
Here's to making tomorrow the best day EVER!

Love, Mama

We have had so much fun playing with our little dinosaur set from Target. Audrey spent quite a bit of the morning today on the floor playing with them- in her princess attire, of course! Surprisingly, her favorite dinosaur is the Tyrannosaurus Rex. She remembers all sorts of random facts about it and repeats them to us, like, "Did you know that they can crush bones with their teeth?" Who knew that a five year old, all things pink + purple + princess- loving girl would also love dinosaurs?
